Care Guide

Vesporina formal and evening dresses feature hand-set embellishments, dimensional appliqués, sheer overlays, and structured elements that require different handling than everyday garments. Always check the care label sewn into your specific dress before cleaning, steaming, or storing it — that label is the authoritative guide for your garment's materials and construction.

Reading Your Garment's Care Label

Most Vesporina dresses include a care label at the left side seam or inside the bodice lining. It may indicate recommended cleaning method, ironing temperature, or warnings specific to that garment's fabric blend and embellishments. If the label is missing or illegible, contact us before attempting any cleaning process.

Protecting Embellishments and Delicate Structures

Several dresses in our collection incorporate elements that are vulnerable to snagging, pressure, and abrasion:

  • Beaded and rhinestone embroidery: Avoid contact with rough surfaces, jewelry clasps, and bag straps during wear. When removing a dress, unfasten zippers and pull fabric away from bead clusters rather than dragging embellished sections over other garments.
  • 3D floral appliqués: These dimensional petals are hand-placed and can be crushed or detached under heavy weight. Never fold an appliqué section flat against itself; if folding is necessary, place tissue paper between layers.
  • Sheer tulle overlays and ruffles: Tulle catches easily on velcro, pet hair, and textured upholstery. When sitting or leaning, smooth the overlay away from contact points. Pleated ruffles on blazer-style dresses hold shape best when the garment is hung rather than compressed.
  • Cord belts and spaghetti straps: Braided rope belts can stretch or fray if knotted tightly or pulled. Store them tied loosely or removed entirely if the design allows.

After-Wear Spot Maintenance

For small spills or surface marks that appear during an event:

  1. Blot the affected area gently with a clean, white, lint-free cloth. Do not rub — rubbing can push liquid deeper into fabric or dislodge bead settings.
  2. Allow the spot to air-dry away from direct heat before storing or wearing again.
  3. For moisture on tulle or satin-like surfaces, lay the garment flat on a dry towel and let it rest at room temperature. Do not wring or press.

If a stain persists after blotting, or if the affected area includes beading, appliqué, or a lining seam, stop and consult a professional cleaner experienced with formalwear rather than applying additional solvents.

Storage

Structured bodices, padded shoulders, and sculpted silhouettes lose their shape when folded under weight. Hang dresses on padded or wide-shoulder hangers to preserve the neckline and shoulder construction. If a cape or train section drapes below the hanger, allow it to hang freely rather than folding it upward against the bodice.

Keep stored garments away from prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade dyes on sheer overlays and satin-finish fabrics. If a garment bag is used, ensure the dress is completely dry before sealing to prevent moisture buildup against embellishments.

When to Seek Professional Help

Consider a qualified formalwear cleaner or tailor if you notice:

  • Loose, missing, or shifted beads or rhinestones
  • Detached or crushed 3D appliqués
  • Zipper pull resistance or separated teeth on concealed closures
  • Visible discoloration or odor that spot-blotting did not resolve
  • Deformation in structured bodice or padded-shoulder areas

Provide the cleaner with your garment's care label information so they can select a method appropriate for the specific fabric and embellishment combination.
